Testimonials From Our Clients

"We were blown away by the stunning florals at our wedding; the team at Winston Flowers seamlessly brought our vision of a 'garden party' to life. We loved the entire planning process and were impressed by the team's attention to detail, quick yet thoughtful responses, suggestions, and new, creative ideas. Our favorite part about working with Winston Flowers (besides our wedding, of course) was visiting the showroom ahead of our big day to see exactly what our tables would look like - down to having our linens and chairs on display. We had the best experience with Winston Flowers and would highly recommend this team."
- JoJo Gutfarb Wetterau, Bride

"The success we have shared at Rafanelli Events over the past two decades is in large part thanks to an invaluable partnership with Winston Flowers. Their commitment to excellence is weaved into the fabric of all they do, from the highest quality flowers to their incredible team of designers and deeply personal, high touch relationships with their clients. Thanks to their vast network of vendor partners and bar-raising standards, together we have been able to produce incredible events all over the world. Winston Flowers has been an extraordinary partner and I could not be more proud of what we have accomplished together."

Benjamin Newbold

Creative Director of Floral & Events

Hi, I'm Benjamin.
Creative Director of Floral & Events
  • With Winston Flowers since: February 2004
  • Favorite flower: I believe beauty can be found in both the flowers and foliage of most plants.
  • What impacts your way of thinking? Anything and everything could be the stimulus for how we design, and it should be ever-changing.

Having grown up on a farm in the Midwest, I gained an appreciation for hard work and the beauty of nature. I left the farm for an education in fine arts, which led me to many collaborations, including work in the theater. My evolution into an event designer has made it possible for me to combine my interest in art with my love of nature and what it produces—like the textural materials that are the foundation of what we create for our clients’ events.

Tori Samuel

Event Designer

Hi, I'm Tori.
Event Designer
  • With Winston Flowers since: February 2003
  • Favorite flower: Clooney ranunculus
  • Favorite Winston Flowers moment: Working alongside floral artist Daniel Ost in Belgium.

Although I grew up surrounded by art and design, I never dreamed it would become my career. After spending three months with the National Outdoor Leadership School in Wyoming, I earned a degree in environmental science. Upon graduating, I became a part of the Beach Management Program in Nantucket, MA and soon found myself working for an event designer on the island in addition to this. In 2002, I moved to Boston and joined the event department at Winston Flowers. I love working with clients to bring their vision to life as well as making sure they enjoy the process of creating their one-of-a-kind event.

Event Designer

Hi, I'm Michael.
Event Designer
  • With Winston Flowers since: September 2011
  • Favorite season: Winter
  • What impacts your designs? Nature and extreme urban environments.

I am a born Bostonian who began my career in New York City, where I spent close to two decades working with various upscale event design companies. As a longtime member of The New York Botanical Garden, I find horticulture to be both professionally and personally rewarding. In 2011, I returned to Boston, where I joined the Winston Flowers team. My design style ranges from classic to contemporary, all while keeping the client’s vision in mind. As an event designer, I’m thrilled to work on a wide variety of events from weddings and galas to smaller, more intimate affairs.

Julio Sales

Event Designer

Hi, I'm Julio.
Event Designer
  • With Winston Flowers since? January 2014
  • Favorite flower: Orange clooney ranunculus
  • What impacts your way of thinking? Cultural and environmental influences help my creativity flow.

I was born and raised in Brazil, surrounded by the farms and mountains of Poços de Calda—also known as the City of Roses. In 1999, I decided to move to New York to pursue a career in floral design at the New York Botanical Garden. This led me to open my own floral design and wedding planning company in Stamford, CT. After years of establishing my reputation in the hospitality industry in Fairfield County, I decided to sell my company and join the award-winning team at Winston Flowers in Greenwich, CT. The transition to Winston Flowers was seamless and allowed me to expand my clientele as well as gain new experiences. It wasn’t long until I was invited to join the special event team in Boston, and I’m happy to have allowed my passion for flowers and design to take me to new places.

Ryan Hontz

Design Sales Manager, CT

Hi, I'm Ryan.
Design Sales Manager, CT
  • With Winston Flowers since: March 2018
  • Favorite flower: Ranunculus
  • What impacts your way of thinking? Music and art are huge motivators for me. I always look for the beauty in things and appreciate when anyone goes the extra mile to make something feel special.
It’s my passion to bring clients’ visions to life. Before becoming a design sales consultant at Winston Flowers, I worked at a company called Petal Design Studio, located in the heart of the New York City flower market. I specialized in creating custom floral and event designs for a wide range of special occasions and loved working in a creative environment, surrounded by flowers from all over the world. In my new role, I bring an understanding that events can be stressful and strive to make the process as seamless and enjoyable for the client as possible. I use a collaborative approach to truly understand who my client is, what they need, and, finally, how I can exceed those expectations.

After graduating with a background in public relations and studio fine arts, I decided to pursue a creative environment where my career could flourish and grow—and Winston Flowers was just the right place. Not only have I been able to explore new roles within the company over the years, I’ve also had the opportunity to work at four of our seven shop locations, expanding my network of clients beyond my hometown of Greenwich. Moving to Boston allowed me to see the impact Winston Flowers has on the community and connect with generations of clients and friends. After years of immersing myself in Winston Flowers’ roots, I felt it was time to bring my enthusiasm back to our Greenwich clientele—and I’m so glad to be back in the hustle and bustle of Greenwich Avenue!

  • What impacts your way of thinking? Working alongside creatives and designers.

I studied public relations at Quinnipiac University where upon graduation, I was lucky enough to secure a job as an account manager and event designer with PBD Events. I had always enjoyed working alongside Winston Flowers when the opportunity would arise, and I am so excited to now be a part of the team. I love being able to apply my creative events background to bring a client's vision to life.

  • With Winston Flowers since? October 2017
  • Favorite flower: Sweet pea
  • What impacts your way of thinking? Forward thinking. I am always trying to find a more efficient yet practical way of doing things.
I’ve always been drawn to event production—both of my parents worked in the events industry in Boston when I was growing up. After graduating with a degree in management from The University of Massachusetts, I worked in retail management, where I focused on the operations process, as well as providing exemplary customer service. Eventually, I combined my events heritage with my retail management experience to join the Winston Flowers team as the event operations coordinator. What I love most about my role is being able to watch someone’s vision come to life through the entire process, knowing that I played a role in an event well executed. Of course, being surrounded by the most beautiful floral designs every day doesn’t hurt!

  • Did you know? Writing is one of my passions! From letters to friends to a weekly blog, I love words and hope to be an author one day.
I grew up in the Green Mountains of Vermont and have always had an affinity for the natural world of flowers, plants, and beautiful landscapes. Following college, I found my passion for people and events and entered into the professional world working in several arenas of events—catering, photography, planning, and administrative work, to name a few! Two of my passions have coincided at Winston Flowers—creating special moments for others, coupled with some of the most beautiful product in the world. I love seeing a project from start to finish, and find great fulfillment in seeing a vision come to life. At Winston Flowers, I have the privilege of helping make both everyday life and significant moments more beautiful and memorable by ensuring each and every detail is thought of with care. I am grateful to see flowers every day that many people never see in their lifetime, and my goal is to provide inspiring customer service and leave clients with a lasting impression of the beauty all around us.
