COVID-19 Updates

May 16, 2020

We're thrilled to announce the re-opening of Winston Flowers & Garden in Chestnut Hill! The exterior of our garden center (11 Florence Street, Newton) is open daily from 10am–5pm. We’re hosting our 'Spring Overstock Sale' for the foreseeable future, until we sell out. The sale features lots of brand-new, high-end outdoor containers and vessels, many of which are exclusive to Winston Flowers, in addition to garden furniture and baskets—all for 25%-75% off the original price.

The safety of our staff and clients remains our top priority, and we have implemented the following measures to ensure safety for all:

  • The exterior of our garden center is open, while the interior remains closed

  • Limit of 10 cars in the parking lot and 20 people on the property at any time

  • Masks are required, and guests must maintain 6 feet of distance from our staff and other guests at all times

  • Signage marks one entrance, one exit, and one-way aisles throughout our garden center

  • The checkout process is contactless for guests using their account; otherwise, credit cards are accepted at a plexiglass-enclosed kiosk

We look forward to seeing you from a safe distance soon!

May 7, 2020

Thank you, thank you for the outpouring of love and support you've shown us since re-opening. The kind messages and sheer number of orders placed have been overwhelming in the best way possible, and we are truly humbled by the response.

We want to assure you that all orders placed prior to May 6 at 5pm will be delivered on time, in addition to the small number of orchid plants we had available slightly longer. However, due to changes in the supply chain and our commitment to following all safety and health guidelines by limiting our staff in order to keep their workspaces distant, we have reached our floral capacity for orders through Monday, May 11.

We are so grateful for your support. Please note the operational changes below for all new orders placed:

  • We have sold out of all Mother’s Day gifts in Massachusetts, New York, and Connecticut, yet you can still purchase and send a 'virtual delivery' for Mother's Day. Simply select May 13 when placing the order and you’ll immediately receive an email with a beautiful photo of the arrangement and your card message for you to share with the recipient. Then, we’ll deliver the actual arrangement next week between May 12-14.

  • We can no longer accept orders for delivery outside of our local areas through our nationwide network of partner florists.

Please know that we are taking every precaution to follow the CDC’s safety guidelines, in addition to many other measures:

  • Our retail stores remain closed indefinitely. We are operating in a limited capacity by accepting internet orders placed at buzzamerica.us, rather than in person or over the phone.

  • Our design studios are offering the safest work environment for our family. A board-certified nurse is on premise to monitor all members' temperatures at the start of each day. We have provided protective gear, as well as workspaces that respect social distancing guidelines.

  • Anyone making deliveries is outfitted with masks and gloves. All deliveries are contactless—we are leaving gifts at the front door and following up with an immediate phone call or text message to notify the recipient.

If you have any questions, please contact us at [email protected]. We appreciate each and every one of you, and every order you place with us. Please remember that we’re donating 10% of all Mother’s Day sales (both for delivery and virtual delivery) to the Massachusetts COVID-19 Relief Fund and NYC COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund—so, thank you for giving us a way to give back.

Warmly,

Your friends at Winston Flowers

May 5, 2020 Update

To our New York and Connecticut clients,

Last week, we announced the re-opening of our company in Greater Boston and Fairfield County. Today we’re thrilled to announce that we’re delivering into New York City and Westchester County for Mother’s Day week (May 5–10)! Our NYC studio will remain closed, but we’ll design and deliver the arrangements from our Greenwich, CT location. We look forward to delivering hope and happiness to the Moms in your life for this special holiday!

Warmly,

Your friends at Winston Flowers

April 27, 2020 Update

To our friends and family,

We miss you tremendously, and we especially miss being a part of your special occasions, celebrations, and moments with your loved ones. These past few weeks have been unlike any other we've experienced, and like many of you, we’ve taken this time to try to understand what is happening around us. There have been many highs and many lows—but today is a high. Winston Flowers will open for Mother’s Day!

We are grateful for your support since our closure, as many of you have shared with us the important role that flowers play in your lives. After all, flowers communicate what words cannot. After weeks of planning, our family-run business is confident that we can keep our clients safe and look forward to delivering hope and happiness for this special holiday.

Our Mother’s Day Collection is live on our website for delivery beginning May 5. We are taking every precaution to follow the CDC’s safety guidelines, in addition to many other measures:

  • Winston Flowers will operate in a limited capacity by accepting internet orders placed at buzzamerica.us, rather than over the phone.

  • Our design studios will offer the safest work environment for our family. A board-certified nurse will be on premise to monitor all members' temperatures at the start of each day. We will provide protective gear, as well as workspaces that respect social distancing guidelines. Since we're limiting the number of people in our studio, we're offering a smaller menu than in years past.

  • Anyone making deliveries will be outfitted with masks and gloves. All deliveries will be contactless—we'll leave gifts at the front door and follow up with an immediate phone call to notify the recipient.

We also know that everyone is looking for ways to help during this time. That’s why we’re donating 10% of all Mother’s Day sales to the Massachusetts COVID-19 Relief Fund and NYC COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund, both of which provide essential emergency services and resources to those who need it most in their (and our) communities. We hope this adds even more meaning to your purchase, and we thank you for giving us a way to give back.

We're counting down the days until our flowers can be in your homes again, and in the meantime, we'll continue connecting with you daily on Instagram (@winstonflowers) and Facebook. Stay safe and healthy, and we'll see you soon!

Warmly,

Your friends at Winston Flowers

April 21, 2020 Update

To our Garden Design clients,

We hope you’re staying safe, healthy, and faring well through everything this pandemic brings. We think of you often, and we’re truly hopeful that you are finding comfort and peace in this time with your families.

Here at Winston Flowers, our studios and retail shops remain closed until further notice. However, we will resume our Garden Design operations in early May, focusing on outdoor living spaces and seasonal container plantings. We know that your home is your sanctuary amidst all of this, and we’re pleased to be able to make it even more beautiful as the weather warms.

To schedule your installation or refresh for early May, please contact [email protected].

Our top priority is to keep our family and our clients as safe as possible. We will be taking extra precautions to make sure we’re following the CDC's safety guidelines at all times:

  • Winston Flowers & Garden will remain closed, yet our garden designers will be available and operating remotely. Virtual site visits will be conducted via Facetime, Zoom, or photo sharing, and any necessary outdoor meetings can occur on an as-needed basis with safe social distancing.

  • We are offering no-contact deliveries and installations for outdoor projects. If contact is necessary, we will be equipped with face masks and gloves, and we will always keep at least 6 feet of distance.

  • Any surfaces touched outside of your home will be immediately wiped after contact.

If you have any questions or concerns about our day-to-day operations and processes, please do not hesitate to contact us at [email protected]. We will work with you in whatever way makes you most comfortable. We’ll also continue to update our practices regularly in accordance with the safety guidelines.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Wishing you good health,

The Garden Design team at Winston Flowers

April 4, 2020 Update

Community has always been the most important part of who we are at Winston Flowers. We have shared celebrations, holidays, and special moments that are both happy and sad. As we continue to deal with the impacts of COVID-19 on our community, we’re reminded of some of the small but thoughtful gestures our father and grandfather instilled in us when they founded the company 75 years ago. They always embraced the positive effects that flowers had on people’s lives in times of happiness, joy, and sorrow. They welcomed every person who stepped through the door of our first location on Newbury Street, graciously handing them a rose to brighten their day.

In that same spirit, we want to support our community now more than ever. That’s why, when you purchase a virtual arrangement on our website, we’ll donate 20% of the purchase price to the Boston Resiliency Fund and NYC COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund. Both provide essential emergency services and resources to those who need it most in their (and our) communities. Simply purchase an arrangement, select delivery for May 5, and within 24 hours, you'll receive an email with a beautiful photo and your card message to share with the recipient. Once the temporary ban has been lifted (date TBD), we’ll deliver the actual arrangement at no additional charge.

Thank you for helping us make this small gesture to support our community.

To our friends and family,

Thank you, thank you for the outpouring of support we've received since announcing the temporary closure of our company. Last night, our systems were flooded with kind messages and flower orders—and to say we are humbled by the response is an understatement. Your support and loyalty to our company speaks volumes and we are anxiously awaiting the day when we can wholeheartedly service you again.

Once the temporary ban has been lifted, we'll deliver the actual arrangement at no additional charge. Use code VIRTUAL for a 20% discount.

We hope you stay in touch with us over the next few weeks! Here’s how:

March 23, 2020 Update

To our friends and family,

We know this has been a difficult time for all of you. With the uncertainty and anxiety that each day brings, we had hoped to continue delivering a bit of sunshine to those who need it. Today we learned that MA, following the leads of NY and CT, has ordered the closure of all non-essential businesses. As of tomorrow at noon, we must temporarily close our doors across all areas of the company. As always, our primary concern is to keep the entire Winston Flowers community safe.

We can’t begin to thank you enough for your unwavering support through the years and during this tumultuous time. Our team is confident that we can weather this storm together, and we look forward to the day that we can re-open our doors to deliver hope, happiness, and, of course, beautiful flowers.

We anticipate re-opening on April 7th per the most recent announcement, although we will continue to monitor all updates as the situation evolves. We will keep you updated as we learn more. In the meantime, if you need something to brighten your day or want to send a pick-me-up to someone you love, we're here to make that happen:

  • We're still accepting orders for delivery in Greater Boston tomorrow morning—just be sure to place your order online tonight. In the morning, we can accept limited orders for delivery in the city of Boston. And once we close, you can send virtual arrangements to friends and family until we re-open. More information to come.

  • Follow us on Instagram (@winstonflowers) and Facebook for your daily reminder that there's still a lot of beauty in the world. We will be posting inspirational and engaging content to keep us all connected over these next couple of weeks.

  • We wish we could help you in person, but in lieu of that, we will be monitoring our emails during this time and look forward to hearing from you.

Stay safe and stay healthy, and we'll see all of you soon.

March 21, 2020 Update

Per the Governor’s orders for a statewide shutdown in New York and Connecticut, we have suspended service at both our New York Design Studio and Greenwich shop. We can’t thank our clients enough for their loyalty and support during this difficult time. Our top priority is to keep the entire Winston Flowers community safe, although we are eager for the day to come when we can open our doors again. While we understand there is tremendous anxiety and uncertainty in each day, flowers remain a symbol of optimism and hope. They are a way to brighten any day. Our Boston studio remains open and we are here for you.

March 17, 2020 Update

Dear Winston Flowers friends and family,

Like many of you, we’re feeling a sense of uncertainty as we navigate our new reality. Life, and business, has changed considerably over the last few weeks and while we are certainly in uncharted territory, we’re choosing to focus on what we can control.

Above all, we remain committed to the safety of our clients and the entire Winston Flowers family. We also know that flowers play an important role during difficult times. Flowers are a source of comfort and happiness, and a way to express what you can’t quite put into words. For that reason, we want to remain open and accessible to our clients—while ensuring safety for all.

We are closely monitoring all recommendations made by the CDC, as these are updated daily. Below are the adjustments we have made to ensure the well-being of our clients and team:

  • From Monday through Saturday, our Boston and New York design studios will be open 8am-5pm. On Sunday, our Boston design studio will be open 9am-5pm. Please reference our locations page for accurate hours and updates.
  • Our retail stores will close at 5pm today for the foreseeable future. This was an incredibly difficult decision for us to make, but it’s important to do our part in protecting our community. Our online shop is open and operating, and we’d love to deliver something beautiful for you today.
  • We will not be delivering to hospitals until further notice.
  • To adhere to social distancing guidelines, our delivery team will leave gifts at the front door and follow up with an immediate phone call to notify the recipient. We will not ring the doorbell. Please call us at (800) 457-4901 if you have a specific delivery request.

Our goal at Winston Flowers is to share happiness and hope through flowers, and that now feels more necessary than ever. We will continue to deliver these sentiments as safely as possible. As always, we thank you for your continued support of our company, and we wish health and safety to you and all of your loved ones.

March 13, 2020 Update

Dear valued clients and friends,

Given the recent developments surrounding the spread of COVID-19, the Winston Flowers family wants to assure you that we are taking every step possible to ensure the health and safety of our clients, employees, and partners.

We are closely monitoring the situation and are adhering to all CDC protocols and guidelines. At our studios and retail locations, we are regularly sanitizing all work stations, shared spaces, and products. If you are expecting a delivery and would like to avoid person-to-person contact, please let us know and we will be happy to make suitable delivery arrangements.

We understand that it’s a time of uncertainty, and our thoughts are with all of those who have been impacted. Times like this remind us how thankful we are to be a part of such a vibrant and resilient community, and how truly grateful we are for each and every one of our clients. If you would like us to deliver a spot of sunshine to your home or to your loved ones, please use the code SPRING for 20% off your order. Valid for deliveries through March 31, 2020 in local delivery areas only.

Our top priority is to keep the entire Winston Flowers community safe, and we will continue to assess and address the situation as it evolves. We thank you for your business and we hope to see you soon.

Sincerely,

Winston Flowers
